These have a nice feel to them and look like they are made nice. But the most important thing in a speaker is its sound then its features. The highs and mids are good. The bass is ok but if you use Dolby Atmos and E.Q. it then produces nice deep booming bass. It just does not have a deep rich bass out of the box. It's a low sounding thump and gives a full sounding thumpy bass not booming bass.It pairs and syncs with no issues. There is some delay with videos it's better with one speaker but there is latency. It's less using 1 than paired TWS. The light show is an appeal its subtle being on the bottom but provides a bright light show. Battery life is good takes a bit to fully charge.Mine came with scratches on the USB cord and someone's hair. ???? See pic. I believe this is a used product or a returned one. I like these speakers they are good but I paid for brand new ones. Not returned ones. But I'm a cool guy so i don't care about a USB wire or a hair. There's always the possibility that it happened at the manufacturing end. ... Maybe I'll win the lottery. Same chance. These are $100 each $80 with the coupon which is a ok price but i feel for the performance $60 is a better pricepoint. The sound isn't great it's ok until you use an EQ then its really good. The EQ on their app doesn't work. There are better sounding speakers that cost less but you don't get the pretty lights. I'll bump this up to 5 stars because I like the way it works. Pair them together and you're set. Turn on and off and it does the same for the other. Once you turn off the light show you don't have to do it every time you turn it on.I wasn't initially impressed but after playing around with them and you gotta get 2 of them these sound great and are easy to use. No fuss with connections. ????????
After researching Bluetooth speakers for weeks, (I’m very picky as I’m an audiophile) I finally pulled the trigger on this one. I was looking for a speaker that was portable, water resistant, and full sounding with plenty of volume. This speaker fit the bill and then some!I use this speaker everyday and even sold 2 co-workers on it after taking it to work for a day. The battery life is great and the ability to charge other devices while in use is pretty cool too. Although, if you don’t have any fingernails, be sure you have something small to pry the charging access cover off as it fits very snug (as seen in the picture). Also, the speaker has to be powered up to use it as a charger.Of course I had to test the waterproofness of it and it performed flawlessly. Even fully submerged, it continued to pound away with music underwater. It floats very well and after removing it from the water, a couple good shakes was all it needed to clear out the tweeters and sound normal again. With the Bass Up feature enabled, the bass is very good, but definitely not the best I have heard. The full range of the speaker is what sold me on it. Every note can be heard and sounds great without any kind of distortion. Without the Bass Up enabled, I found the some mids and lows to be lacking. I also found the equalizer in the Soundcore app to be lacking and hard to adjust, as no levels are indicated on the sliders.Bluetooth range is very good. I was able to get well over 50 ft away with no interruptions. Sometimes, getting a device to pair can be challenging. My wife’s iPhone XR had a hard time connecting to it although my iPhone X connected right away. This I will continue to keep an eye on.Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend this speaker to anyone.
OVERVIEWThe soundcore flare+ is the big brother to the soundcore flare. It improves upon the flare by increasing power from 12 watts to 25 watts, adding 2 tweeters, and increasing battery life from 12 hours to 20 hours. The size and weight of the speaker is also greater.SOUND QUALITYThe flare+ has some noticeable sound improvements over the flare. The bass hits a little harder and you can actually feel the sound a little more. It is not a huge increase in sound, but it does sound a little better. I do wish it had a tad bit more bass though. Although the bass is good, it doesn't have the responsiveness of a dedicated subwoofer. The highs also sound a hint clearer.BATTERY LIFEUnfortunately I haven't hit the advertised 20 hour playing time. I've gotten about 15 hours of playing time. Of course the music being played, volume, lights, etc. have an impact on power drain.OVERALL VIEWI feel the flare+ is a nice improvement over the flare. I like the original flare so much, I bought 3 of them.I do think the speaker should be priced $10-20 cheaper though to really be a great value. Or the power should be 30 watts and playing time should be at least 24 hours. The speaker should also be using USB type C - it's almost 2019!!!!!Some things I don't like are the buttons - they are harder to press on the flare+. The app or the current firmware version has a bug. When trying to use the custom equalizer, it says I need to update the firmware, but when I go to update the firmware, it says I have the latest version (2.50).Overall, I am happy with the speaker.
Another quality product from Anker. The Flare+ is an upgrade to the previous Soundcore Flare, with additional drivers, watts, 20 hour playtime and charging capability. The cost is well worth the added premium. This speaker Is loud and produces crisp highs, accurate mids and deep base, projecting quality sound in a 360 degree sound field. The default EQ settings are more than adequate for pop and beat drops. This speaker performs excellent at higher volumes and doesn’t distort. At lower volumes the Flare+ sounds clear and average for a speaker in this price range. The Flare+ is built to perform at higher volumes making this speaker a true competitor against speakers costing more.Pairing speakers will create a stereo soundstage making this a true party system filling a room and more than adequate for outdoor use.Pros:•Quality feel, construction and durability•Loud and accurate soundstage at higher volumes•Deep Bass at higher volumes•Customized Light settings and app•Can pair with another Flare+Cons:•Sounds ordinary for a speaker in this price range at lower volume settings.A few cons that hopefully can be remedied with a firmware upgrade.• Need additional EQ settings to optimize Metal and rock genres or a custome EQ mode.• No voice integration when using Alexa. Note you can skip and pause music via top mounted button. My final thoughts on this purchase is total satisfaction and I will definitely purchase another Flare+.Update 9/6/18I ordered another Flare+ and currently pairing the two speakers.Set up was easy and paired successfully.I was getting an occasional skipping and pause, so I restarted my phone and paired the speakers again seems to be working no problems. The stereo mode sounds clear with full bass. The bass is not ‘muddy’, the result is a clear medley of mids, highs and deep full bass. Where this system excels is at higher volumes, the bass is more pronounced and distortion free at all levels.Purchasing two Flare pluses will cost $200 and is well worth the price considering that this is truly portable and produces a stereo soundstage, 20 hours of playtime, IPX7 waterproof rating, battery bank and added light feature not to mention it’s durable construction will survive drops.Like all speakers, placement is important, find that sweet spot and the bass becomes more pronounced.Note: Adjust EQ settings in Spotify if you’re using that service.I would recommend this purchase, it performs as advertised and sounds excellent in both paired and single mode.
The flare+ arrives and packs a great amount of power, features in compact stylish design that fits any decor. The cloth cover makes the speaker more of an art piece. On to the technical part. The highs, mids are impressive and the bass is very noticeable but not as deep and punchy as I would like. The speaker fills a large room with impressive, overwhelming sound and you can pair 2 for a stereo sound and extra power but I don’t believe that is needed. The app found the speaker quickly and was very responsive. The speaker comes with a strap for carrying around but it’s not that heavy or bulky to just be picked up without the strap. The strap hides behind the speaker and is barely noticeable. Glad Anker did not make the strap out of rubber. Now Anker needs to make a case for this speaker. In the end...This speaker is a steal for under $100.
Bought this to compare to the Soundcore Motion Boom and a Bose Revolve+.2 features were important to me: stereo pairing and waterproofness. All can pair with another speaker in stereo. Revolve+ is water resistant, Flare+ is waterproof, Motion Boom is water proof and floats.Right out of the box I was a bit let down by the sound of the Flare+. It's hollow and definitely less bass compared to the Revolve+. I messed around with the eq for a while but there was no hope of it matching the Revolve+. I had high hopes for this speaker from the great reviews of other Soundcore bt speakers and the Liberty 2 Pro wireless ear buds I have that I am blown away by.Now, with all that said, I think the speaker is fairly priced at $100 and maybe it's not fair to compare it to a $300 speaker. Some may think it's absolutely worth it to spend another $200 for much better sound quality. However, you can get 2 Flare+s to play in stereo for 2/3 the price of one Revolve+.There's very little comparison between the Flare+ and the Motion Boom, especially when they're the same price. The only reason to get the Flare+ instead is if you really want those lights or for the smaller size. And for the Motion Boom vs the Revolve+, the Motion Boom definitely has more bass and more volume. The Revolve+ still has an amazing amount of bass and volume for its size and design. As for sound quality, it's hard to say right now, but I think the Revolve+ takes that. Maybe with more time fine tuning the eq on the Motion Boom I can get it closer. Given the price difference, I'd recommend the Motion Boom over the Revolve+, unless the smaller size and great sound with no eq set up outweighs the cost.
We are returning this speaker after testing it against the JBL Charge 4. Below are a few points as to why we went with the JBL.Construction: Both units felt premium but the JBL had a slightly nicer build quality. The JBL seems like it would handle a bit more rough handling. The Flare+ has a strap which might come in handy.Sound: I appreciated the 360 sound from the Flare+ and the JBL was lacking in this dept but in a blindfold test, my girlfriend appreciated the overall sound quality of the JBL (it was a night and day difference). The JBL had deeper lows and a smooth response. I could get some decent bass out of the Flare+ but it required me to boost the bass to the max on the app. I'm disappointed the JBL doesn't have any kind of EQ settings on their app but it also sounds great out of the box. I was quite shocked how good the bass sounds on the JBL. If you play the Flare+ with a flat EQ and only turn on the Bass boost button on top, it pales in comparison.Apps: The Flare+ app is fantastic and definitely a highlight. The JBL app is a joke in terms of functionality. You don't need it at all as it does nothing. The Flare+ app allowed for all kinds of adjustments (especially the EQ).Bluetooth: The first test run of the Flare+ was kind of odd. The signal kept going in and out with my iPhone 11. I tried both Spotify and Apple music and the phone was literally sitting right next to the speaker. After rebooting the speaker, it didn't have that problem again. I did update the firmware before I put it through its paces. The JBL worked fine with no issues or dropouts. The range on both were pretty good. The biggest bonus for the JBL is you can connect two devices to it at the same time. This factored into my final decision as well. We plan on using this speaker for parties and I don't always want to be the DJ.Functionality: Something I was going to dock the Flare+ for was the lack of volume buttons in the unit but it does have them. You wouldn't know because you can see them at all. There's no white labeling or sign of them on the top of the unit. It made it hard to see where you should press. The JBL is clearly marked with a large plus and minus sign so there is no issue knowing where to press. Also something to note is the Flare+ uses the old and tired MicroUSB to charge. The JBL uses USB-C which is more modern. I didn't have a chance to get the speaker wet and I still feel weird about doing that. I know both of these speakers can handle it but I couldn't give them a rating on water resistance.Final thoughts: Do I think the JBL is the best speaker ever? It's pretty good and I know the Charge 3 has dual speakers for better soundstage but I wanted the latest version. I'm not disappointed. From here, to get the next level of sound, you will need to go into the $200+ range. I thought about getting the JBL Xtreme2 but that is $250. I was holding myself to under $150.
Let me start by giving myself some credibility: consider myself an amateur audiophile. Have owned 2 different 10k in home systems, installed 4 different 2k plus car stereo systems, and trialed over hundreds of headphones. Also I have purchased/reviewed near 75-100 Bluetooth speakers, 20 within the last few months. Nothing compares to this one for a variety of reasons:Sound: 5/5. Great bass. Can “feel” it many feet away. Not sure there is anything else this size that delivers this kind of bass. Mids are forward and highs sparkle without being harsh. And the loudness is incredible for something this size. With near zero distortion at full volumeBattery: 20 + hours with charging capability. Need I say more? And uses usb mini and not some stupid proprietary cable (oontz XL I’m looking at you)Features: 5/5. Charging. Lights (don’t use but a super fun party trick). Ipx7. And the cloth fabric Is so slick. Great for grip, durability, and looksValue: 10/5. This should easily cost 200-300. But at 100 minus 20 with a coupon, idk how anker is making $
After going through a couple of famous BT speakers like the JBL flip and even the BOSE Soundlink, this has got to be the best size and value. You get amazing sound and a cool ergonomic design on top of that. The sound is really good, the bass is pronounced and even better when the bass EQ is engaged. I think the battery life is eternal, I have been playing music over BT, 3.5mm connected to the source and with the lights on and off and the battery has barely gone below 50% after about 8 hours. This is really impressive from ANKER and I certainly will look at their other products, because they have me hooked on this. Stop looking for other BT speakers under $100, because this the end all be all of the category.
I have had many portable speakers and this one will definitely surprise you. It DOES fill the room up with music.Bass response is great for its size-- Especially if you place it on a counter or something that resonates.I've had a bamboo Dual Driver ~$70 speaker from Amazon which was my favorite (stopped working) and this sounds way better- The highs and mids are more clear.I bought this with an extended 4 year warranty 3 months ago and I'm very happy with it!
This is my 5th portable speaker in the last couple years. I've kept a few but most have been returned, usually because the sound quality doesn't match the price tag. I'm a semi-audiophile, have been for well over 30 years, so my expectations are a tad on the high side.My last portable was the AOMAIS GO, it had a decent sound but the build quality was mediocre and the BT was miserable. I've also had a Photive M90 (it was just ok sounding) an Aiwa Exos-9 (great, great sound, but again, the price point and BT were the problem. Plus, not really portable). I've also tried a handful of the UE speakers. Nice build but without fail not good enough sound for the premium price point. This little speaker is actually quite amazing. The sound, for the size, is full and well rounded. It produces impressive bass, again, for the size. BT seems to be excellent as does connecting, it connects every time. I love that it has a strap on it, too many of these portables have to holding/handle. I like that it's waterproof, which means I can use it for kayaking.Overall, I like it well enough to buy a second to pair for the patio area, though honestly, other than a full on house party, this thing fills the patio decently on it's own.
Can handle big, full house volumes without any distortion. having buttons for different light settings and bass boost is a big plus. The accompanying app is alright as well giving the speaker a sleep-mode timer and different brightness settings, and equalizer adjustments. Works well when im doing outside work, changing oil or lawn-care, really puts out tunes. both options for Bluetooth and aux cable, i find the Bluetooth overrides the aux so i can keep it plugged into one source and still connect and play from my phone instead if i want without disconnecting the cable which is nice.Update: my unit started shuddering really loudly and shaking around like one of the speakers came loose. I emailed Anker and they sent me a replacement, and a delivery ticket to send my faulty unit back at my convenience. They really seemed to care about my bad experience, so top marks for them!
I had the original Flare and was quite disappointed with its lack of lower end bass. It's just okay. The Flare+ is quite an improvement when it comes to bass. It isn't as rich as some other manufacturers that have Bluetooth speakers but above average for this price range. The battery does indeed last as advertised, especially with the lights off.The one con I can say is this thing is not very loud. I put the volume to max and was surprised at the level it capped off where I would have expected a 25W speaker to be maybe 30% louder at max. It's fine for smaller rooms but I would not imagine it would be adequate for outdoor parties at all - unless everyone stands next to it.Overall it's a good speaker and a huge improvement over its sibling, the Flare. If you want something to rock your party, I'd suggest this may not be the speakers for you. Of course though, when it comes to sound and volume, there is some subjectivity as what sounds good to someone may not to another. I would doubt anyone would argue this speaker has bad sound quality because it does not. Would give it a 7/10 where the Flare would be 5/10.
Highly recommended! I have been using 2 first generation flare soundcore speakers since they were 1st available on Amazon. I was sufficiently impressed with those 2 speakers to make a vow that I would immediately buy the larger speakers when they came out. I purchased 2 soundcore flair + speakers and am thoroughly enjoying the outstanding stereo that is apparently missing with any single speaker no matter what its quality. I have compared these speaker's sound side-by-side with a variety of other Bluetooth and WI fi speakers including Bose and Samsung. Except for the very high end, $600 and up, they measure up and exceed in every instance. For the price and the fact that they are waterproof, these are phenomenal!
