I have been hesitant to invest in these headphones for a couple of reasons.1- I would use them for cycling. Would they be comfortable with a helmet and sunglasses?2- Would they actually allow me to listen to music, and hear cars and my surroundings. Here's the answers. They are very comfortable, and they fit under my helmet and with my sunglasses. (see photos)- Sound quality is not as good as headphones, but definitely good enough to enjoy my music.- I can hear my surroundings. If I turn my volume all the way up, it does, obviously, make it more difficult to hear traffic.- Phone calls: I can hear callers and they can hear me.Bottom-line for me, they allow me to listen to music and still hear my surroundings. They stay in place, handle all the sweat I can throw at them, have great battery life, and don't lose connection no matter where, in my Jersey, I keep my phone. They are a bit pricey, but so far I am very happy with them.
These headphones are everything they advertise to be, I love how well they work. I can listen to music while running and still hear everything around me, it's the best. I find listening at around 1/3~1/2 volume is the best, if you crank them up too high they do start vibrating slightly against your skin and other folks start being able to hear them. My one complaint is the size of the band. It's so large that it sticks out about an inch or so off the back of my head/neck which makes it so if I try to lean my head on anything or lie down it shoves the headphones out of place. I really wish AfterShokz would make these in small, medium, and large or something like that. I would love love love to have a pair where the band was more fitted to me
Allow me to explain.Sometimes people say they don't like cats. But maybe it's because they're comparing them to dogs. It's similar with these headphones. If I were to compare them to conventional headphones based only on sound quality, conventional headphones win hands down. But if I compare the whole experience of listening to audio wearing these versus conventional headphones, it's a different story. I happen to appreciate enormously not having to feel something push on or in my ears. For comfort alone, it's well worth it to me.Also, when I wear reading glasses they don't press the arms into my head like my on-ear headphones do.
I am deaf in one ear for I’m birth. I have never heard in stereo until I purchase the headphones. I was so excited I could not stop listening. I listened for two hours straight, then cried and then called my parent with the news! Truly UNBELIEVABLE! I am waiting to get the air ones due to my left ear being deformed I get a little pain but it is totally worth the pain to have the hearing I never had before! Truly amazing !!!!!
So I have charged these units 1 time so far and used for 3 different runs (aprox 3 hours total) as well as ride to work every morning on motorcycle, roughly 1 hr per day riding. 5 days, as well as aprox 1.5 hours of random listening / movie time. Still on the same charge.-so the phone will give you a 10% warning, I did not notice this to give you a time there, BUT when it said "please charge" I had about 5 min till dead. For running - there is nothing better, I have tried so many different headsets wired and bluetooth, this is the most comfortable way to run, and have situational awareness!!Riding motorcycle - with loud pipes up to 100 mph. Use ear plugs (foamies that came with it, ordered some nice tripple flange) and I can hear the music just fine and still hear things around me better than with helmet that has Sena unit!no buds shoved in your ear, cause sooner or later they hurt. easy to wipe your sweat off of them unlike ones shove into ear as well.I put off spending 180 on these things for a while. tried a few others and returned. I wish I had never waited.oh, also tested with phone sitting in car 36 paces to a cement out house, music never even got fuzzy.
This technology is phenomenal. I purchased these for my wife as she has never found an in-ear headphone that is comfortable (she has small ears). She also didn't want over-the-ear headphones because she would have a hard time being aware of her surroundings. She loves these and uses them every day while working from home. What's more moving, my father, who as born with Microtia (ear canal closed and outer ear is underdeveloped), has never been able to hear out of one of his ears. After testing my wife's Trekz, he can now HEAR OUT OF BOTH EARS for the first time in his life (he's 61). It immediately brought tears to his eyes. Needless to say, we bought a pair for him as well. Highly recommended for anyone with Microtia!
Bought these in June 2018, and have only used them a few weeks as of the time of this review. Bottom line: I am very happy with them so far. Some background: I do wear hearing aids, the kind that sit on the back of the ear with a tube that enters the ear itself. My hearing loss is primarily in the upper frequencies so I don't wear the hearing aids all the time. I am not, and I never have been, an audiophile so I can't comment on the sound quality from that standpoint, other than to say I am completely satisfied with them. Also, I have a smaller head and these are not adjustable for head size, other than changing the angle and position that they sit. They do offer a bit of a gentle pressure side to side to hold them in place.I bought these so that I could listen to music and perhaps hear more of it than I would get from in-the-ear headphones, and these do that for me. I also wanted to be able to hear music or news AND hear my surroundings while riding my recumbent trike. These definitely do that for me. I have to adjust the angle that they sit on my head, which is easily done if not wearing my hearing aids, so that the back loop doesn't interfere with my bike helmet, my hat, or the bike's headrest. They don't interfere with the aids if I am not needing to a) recline into a headrest or b) wear my helmet. So far they are fairly comfortable to wear with the aids otherwise. This is because having both behind my ears does force the Trekz to sit at a certain position without offering much allowance to adjust the angle. This prevents me from wearing both while riding, but since I don't generally wear my hearing aids while riding, this hasn't been a problem. It may well be a problem for someone else. I have worn them walking and jogging with the hearing aids and they stay in place fairly well, although I do reflexively reach up to check their position several times during my walk/jog.As to the controls, they turn on and off easily, and I've had no problem syncing them with my Samsung phone or my iPad.Yes, I would recommend them to a friend, but if that friend wears anything else behind the ears, I caution them to consider my comments above.
These headphone are by far the best choice if you are active outdoors. I have gone through wired earphones, bluetooth beats 2 with a wire that connects both earpieces, Bose Soundsport Free and Jabra Sport earphones. All of those had fitment issues where I had to keep reinserting them while I was running. The Aftershokz sound great and I can run with them without touching them and after a few minutes you don't even know they are there. They haven't skipped a beat and the battery lasts forever. I don't understand how they can sound so good but they do. Ditch all your other earphones and pick up one of these. I highly highly recommend them.
I first seen these in an airport and was able to listen to them and instantly loved them. When I got home I made the purchase and have been very happy I did. I am able to hold conversations with others in the gym w/out having to mute the music. The only time I experienced the vibration that others have mentioned was when there was a lot of bass in the songs, but if not a lot of bass, then no issues. Sound is good, fit is great, and the battery life is what you would expect (a weeks worth for me). If you really don't like earbuds or if you have problems with them staying in while you are exercising, then these are great. All in all these are the best headphones I've ever had.
I've had mine for about nine or ten months now and they are the best online purchase I've ever made. The audio quality is great and they are nearly unbreakable. I love to wear these along with over-the-ear headphones so that I can listen to an audiobook on my Aftershokz and supply a soundtrack for the audiobook via a guitar/amp/over-the-ear headphone arrangement.Last month I was working on my wife's car trying to get it running well enough to drive it to a nearby mechanic. I was listening to an audiobook with these headphones on and off while I was working on this, and when I was least expecting it--the engine started. I quickly closed the hood and drove to the repair shop. When I got there I could not find my headphones, but I had a sneaking suspicion that I had left them on the roof of the car before I left the house.Walking the half- mile back home, I kept a keen eye on the road for my headphones. The route I had traveled was along a very busy six-lane street. I finally found them a few blocks from my house along that busy street. They had been run over at least a half-dozen times judging by the numerous tire treads on the green upper band. In spite of this, the frame was in the same shape it had always been--no twisting, no bowing. The housing was still perfect, and the power light was still on.I took it home and wiped the tire marks off it and tried it out to see if it still worked. The headphones connected immediately with no loss of fidelity. Plus they looked nicer having been freshly cleaned. The only conceivable complaint I might have against this product is that it is not very comfortable to use while lying down and/or sleeping.
If you don't like the wind noises while running or biking, and want to be vigilant of your surroundings, then this is THE ONLY headphone in the market that suits your need. I used to go with Sennheiser PMX 680 for many years and finally found an alternative to that. If you like PMX 680's ergonomics, and don't like using in-ear while running, then again this is for you.If you don't want to hear the surroundings and want to have a closed-back headphone experience, like in the gym, please just use the ear plug offered for free in the box. I guarantee you that the "reduction in dB of the external sound" is light years better than overpriced garbage like Bose QC (which has terrible isolation in mid-low frequency range), because the ear plug literally forbids you hear anything except the vibration conducted by your bones.Seriously, to those who said sound quality, this is a bluetooth headphone with 10 ohm impedance with design aiming to get through a 4 hour marathon. Being an audiophile myself owning multiple high-end headphones, I find the sound quality of this headphone is more than acceptable during working out. If you like sound quality why don't you bring your Tesla T1+amplifier in a run. Indeed the bass is lacking, however, the reason you feel the bass is lacking is because you listen to garbage (like Beats with high distortion and atrocious frequency response) too much. The tone of this headphone is more like a reference headphone (Sennheiser HD280), yet with less resolution.
I have perforated my right eardrum twice and my left once while serving over seas in a combat zone. These headphones are the perfect solution to my hearing problems as they bypass the ear canals. The bone conduction is fantastic, and I would not give these up for anything.
I really like the packaging that it comes in. It is very light, and that is very nice. I love the color, and the sound, granted is not the best I have ever heard, I still think the sound is great. I also love how I still like how it sounds and can hear others around me. I have not had a call on it yet, but my expectations are good. When it came to my house, I was excited to use it, but it had only about 5 seconds of being on until I realized it had no power :/. Would have been nice to hear a little bit more before I had to charge it.Another thing: please have more instructions for how those little rubber bits attatch. I have a smaller head because I am only 16, and was happy to know they had attatchments to help, but I had a harder time putting them on because there were little to no instructions on how to insert them onto the headphones.Overall, I am very very satisfied and happy with the product, but the instruction manual could use more work.Hope this helps :)
Update: After 90 days covering 63 road rides, 64 hours in the saddle and 989 miles...I'd give it a 6th star if I could. After 30 days covering:- 16 road bike rides (2 in a heavy drizzle/light rain)- 21 hours in the saddle- 318 milesThis deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Highlights:- quality construction and feel- can hear music without issue up to 20 mph, 50/50 at 25 mph and not much above 30 mph but that's due to wind noise but is irrelevant for me because those speeds are just on steeper downhill sections- long battery life (I've listened up to 3.3 hours, haven't listened until battery dies)- sound quality really good for bone conduction, zero complaints- way safer on a road bike but I've also found myself wearing it when working around the house so I can still hear my kids or in airports to hear gate announcements. However, it does not drown out a complaining spouse, perhaps that's why it comes with foam ear plugs.- Excellent Bluetooth connectivity and range (iPhone 6)Bottom line: quality product at a reasonable value - fully recommend.
I quite liked them. So did my friend. So much so, that they're now hers, and I'm on here because I have to order another pair. As for why I think they're worth buying twice: You can still hear what's going on around you with them on. This is great for using to listen to music while doing things that can get you killed if you tune out the world (riding a bike, driving a convertible, working with idiots who can't see you have headphones on and then get angry when you don't hear what they said) but probably not ideal if you want to listen to music on an airplane while pretending you're somewhere besides in a vibrating metal tube in the sky. I mostly used them at work. I did wear them to the gym once, and the other gym-goers seemed nonplussed by the fact that I could hear them despite clearly having on (bright green) headphones. Also, I know that someone who is ostensibly in charge has decided that you should only put one space after a period, but I spent enough time getting yelled at by a typing teacher in high school that the habit isn't getting broken today, so you're going to have to deal with it.
